The Song of the Moon
Visual Music Performance
‘In the beginning, there were two moons’. The visual music play,’The Song of the Moon’, reinterprets the moon stories appearing in the Jeju creation myth, cheonjiwang-bonpuri, with the ancient Kut (shaman-ritual) rhythms and multimedia performance.
The harmony of dance, gongs, ajaeng (a Korean string instrument), drums and chants presented in the virtual space of the media facade creates a world of magical mythology.
As it is based on the Jeju myth and Kut (shaman rituals), the piece receives artistic advice from Seo Soon-sil, a master shaman and the president of the Jeju Ken-Kut Preservation Society.
