Tamna Odyssey
The traditional and modern meet in the new Tamyra Odyssey, where a painting from 300 years ago is brought back to life through an interactive media facade. The symbols of the island, such as Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, waterfalls, haenyeo (women divers), and tangerine farms, are expressed through traditional dance and music, modern dance, and interactive media facades.
Tamna Odyssey
Traditional Fusion Performance
The pictures of Jeju from over 300 years ago are coming back to life!
A multidisciplinary performance, ‘Tamna Odyssey’, where tradition and modernity intersect, combines traditional music and dance, contemporary movements and an interactive media facade. It is inspired by ‘Tamna Sullyeokdo’, a collection of paintings from 1702 depicting the landscapes, culture and folk events of Jeju with a variety of colours when Lee Hyeong-sang, as the new governor of Jeju, made official tours around the province.
The varicoloured images of old Jeju, including the birth of the island, Seongsan Sunrise Mountain, Gimnyeong Cave, a waterfall and Haenyeo (a female diver), become the symbols to reveal the particular patterns of the sky and people carved on Jeju Island.
